The town of Cloudcroft is well situated for mountain holidays and ski vacations. Ski Cloudcroft, the local ski hill, is complimented by a variety of accommodations, including hotel rooms, chalets and vacation home rentals. The Lincoln National Forest surrounds Cloudcroft and provides endless opportunities for camping, hiking and a variety of other outdoor activities. Hunting trips and trail rides are offered in the area as well, with outfitters leading visitors into the mountains on horseback in order to experience the New Mexico highlands first-hand. When visiting Cloudcroft, golf enthusiasts enjoy playing a round at the nine-hole Ponderosa Pines Golf Course. There are also several shops in town that cater to outdoor enthusiasts, offering everything from skis and snowboards to hiking and biking equipment. Visitors seeking pioneer history can find it in Cloudcroft at the Sacramento Mountains Historical Museum, which features displays, photos and historical artifacts that speak the history of the area.

Open Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sacramento Mountains Historical Society and Pioneer Village showcases a number of historic buildings from the 1800s and early 1900s, as well as artifacts and memorabilia from Cloudcroft.
